Time to Write This One Off
Microsoft was once a proud, quality software company. Now it’s the shambled home of sub-par poor excuses for apps.
OneDrive is a good example of this. The company has known for years now about the bugs in this app. Like, if you use long file names, it fails catastrophically. Or how the sync engine is molasses slow.
And if you try to get support, and I have, you get the time-wasting run-around of a company at war with itself (like, common excuse not to help: it’s not a OneDrive, it’s something else — Word, Excel, the price of oil — anything else).
It’s getting embarassing. To save this once-proud company the growing shame, it’s time to agree that OneDrive is simply a failure. It’s dead. It’s not worth the time any of us might spend fighting its poor quality, and it’s certainly not worth our collective time.
Don’t install this app on your Mac. Walk away and choose a different solution.
There’s tremendous problem here, but Microsoft has proven through years of failure that it can’t deliver on those promises. It’s too bad, really. This could have been great.
