Years behind the competition
My company uses Office365, without which there would really be no reason to use this truly inferior cloud-based file storage and sync solution. OneDrive is slow and unreliable, having now lost several files and notebooks due to botched sync. As a Mac application, it does a poor job of integration - unlike a popular competing product, there are no options to share files and folders from within the Finder. Even the native Office 2016 applications fail to recognize OneDrive/OneDrive for Business folders as being “special” shared locations, and so all sharing must be done from within a web browser.
Recently, the application has become less stable on my Macs. Clicking on the menu bar icons results in beachballs and keyboard freezes, even after a thorough check up of disk/file integrity, clearing of temporary and settings files, and reinstallation. All other applications are fine, of course.
OneDrive is better on Windows, but that’s not much of a recommendation. I hope they can do better, but because my work matters to me I’m sticking with the real, mature sync product. The one that begins with a “D”.
