OneDrive App Reviews

I have lost more than a few hours of work trying to get my files to sync since the last update (Version 16.x). One Drive was rock solid and now it won’t even allow me to type while it endlessly spins its gears. I have uninstalled it from my system and flushed the trash. It is time to find something that will work. I guess Google Drive or iCloud. To Microsoft I say shame on you. Update (June 17): I tried version 17.3.xxx in hopes that things have improved. This was it for me and I have moved on to Google Drive. The program just does not work with the MAC well at all. I am using the latest version of El Captian which seems to be when my problems started. I still have One Drive installed on my Windows 10 PC. It works seamlessly there, unfortuneatly all of my critical files are no longer available on One drive. It is with a heavy heart I say that I cannot recommend One Drive for the MAC. (Too Dramatic?)

I cannot download two versions of one drive and one drive for business as it is done in Windows. Is there a trick I need to know?

Can’t install the update on my Mac. The little wheel just keeps spinning. SO disappointing. Our small business just started to use 365 — we really need OneDrive to work!

Works seamlessly so far. Thanks for supporting Mac at least, just waiting on the linux client.

I’m a fan of Microsoft, as foolish as that is, so I didn’t believe the reviews claiming that OneDrive for Mac did not perform even its most basic functions. I can now verify that it is true: files are not updated correctly. When I resume my mac from standby, I instantly see DropBox update the file list. OneDrive does not do this. I was able to successfully open out-of-date versions of files that should no longer exist even minutes after resuming from standby. This program does not work correctly, and will fail to give you the most up-to-date version of your files. Do not use it.

The sync works well, between my macs and smartphone devices. So do the job as we said. But, on my 2 Mac laptops, the background process takes quite often almost 100% of CPU. Then I have to stop the process manually and relaunch it when I want the sync. That’s weird and inexpected. Hope Microsoft will fix that big issue quickly !

The app just got the ability to display a sync status overlay shown on the files and folders icons. You need to enable it from the OSX system preference Extensions panel, but it does the job.

The latest update with the overlay in Finder or TotalFinder works well. Now we can see what is synced and what isn’t. However, activating the overlay replaces all icon labels by « IconOverlaySyncingLabel » or « IconOverlaySyncedLabel » instead of the usual labels like file size, image dimensions, etc… This needs to be corrected for the overlay to be usable.

With december 2015 release, we have now only one release for both OneDrive and OneDrive for business accounts. That makes life easier. Works well, good performance and convenient to use. Besides, it is one of the most cost effeciency solution on the market at the moment for 1Tb. However, that’s really painful not being about to sync Library on sharepoint as on Windows. For team work, that’s a blocker. We must keep dropbox for this kind of use cases:-(

The worst cloud program ever. It hangs on "scanning files" for several days and never does any upload or download.

As the previous version, this application drains the battery of my MacBook Air, using 100% of one core. Assim como a versão anterior, esta aplicação seca a bateria do meu MacBook Air, usando 100% de uma CPU.

Microsoft insists in using an “AppStore” version of the app. It should be a standard software, like dropbox. The app is very crippled, it takes forever to sync new photos, constantly loses the connection and has trouble reconnecting. A fiasco, as many other issues with OneDrive.

Stoping working on my MacBook Pro Retina after the Update. Trully frustrating.

The app does not let me log in, keep saying the password is incorrect. Hate you!

“Sorry, there is a problem with OneDrive. Please restart OneDrive.” Also still no Screenshot collector (like OneDrive for Windows or Dropbox on OSX)!!!

I have an issue with OneDrive for Mac - business where the client cant be initialized due to the fact that the Office365 tenant name has a slash in it. When starting OneDrive for Mac Business for the first time the users are prompted to choose a location for the OneDrive folder. No matter where they choose to store the folder, it brings an error that the OneDrive-folder cant be created there. The reason being that its a moveable disk, or a wrong disk format.
